BAGS - aka - Dennis Stagliano

So BAGS fell in our laps during an interview process we had. “BAGS” comes from a nickname Matt and I found on the net while searching for “Dennis Stagliano” purely by accident. An accidental web search and all the sudden I find all of this info on the web!!

Anyhow, after some reading about BAGS and how he was this huge sports handicapper that people came to for advice, we know our guy has some sort of background in the betting world. Seems things went south in the northeast and they got away and moved to Dallas. Bags is the name they gave him, but he says it is cousins name and site. Who are we to believe? It makes for some great fun though.

So here’s to you BAGS!!!!!

I’d like to comment on the blog about ” BAGS “. Here’s the truth…

My name is Dennis Stagliano Jr. The person that you refer to “Dennis Stagliano” is my father of course. He is not really known as BAGS. It is true that BAGS is my father’s cousin, that sometimes we refer to as “Joey Bag o’ Donuts” Joey Bags is really Joe Magliocca who lives in Lee Center upstate New York. My father really has been a big Handicapper since 1981. His prime years were the 80’s to mid 90’s. I can remember as a kid, my parents buying new cars from the money he made from his sports service business. Winning lots of Handicapper awards in Vegas etc…. stuff like that. His business used to be called Eastern Sports Service. Upon the move to Texas (It’s only because he wanted to live in better weather, and that me and his grandson lives there), he renamed the business GridIronGold (www.gridirongold.com) which still exists today. Throughout the years, I suspect my father made hundreds of thousands of dollars over the 26 years, but I’m really not a part of the business anymore.
Just an update on ” BAGS ” today is that Joe is suffering from advanced Diabetes. A few years ago, he fell from his roof while fixing it and never completely recovered. Not sure of his condition now.

Anyway…hope you found this at least a little entertaining.

    sincerely,
    Dennis
